Paris Orly Airport terminal guideAirport Guide
Orly sits in the southern suburbs of Paris, about 14 km from the city centre, and handles around 34.9 million passengers a year (2025). It is the smaller of Paris's two airports and divides into two halves: Orly 1, 2 and 3 are connected together, while Orly 4 stands apart — and the "Orly West" and "Orly South" of older guides are now called Terminal 3 and Terminal 4.
The four terminals
| Code | Name | Main users |
|---|---|---|
| Orly 1 | Terminal 1 | Air France domestic and some European carriers |
| Orly 2 | Terminal 2 | Air France international and SkyTeam members |
| Orly 3 | Terminal 3 | European carriers and some low-cost airlines (formerly Orly West) |
| Orly 4 | Terminal 4 | Mainly low-cost and long-haul carriers (formerly Orly South) |
How to tell where you are going:
- Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected indoors and can be reached on foot.
- Terminal 4 stands on its own — reaching the other three means a walk of about 12 minutes or a free transit train (the inter-terminal leg of Orlyval), so allow time if you are changing building.
Our diagram draws Orly 4 as a separate building, detached from 1–3, precisely to mark out that detour.
Transfers and connections
- First check whether both flights are inside Terminals 1–3; a connection on the same side is the quickest.
- A connection involving Orly 4 needs the inter-terminal transfer time added on — allow more than 2 hours.
- Orly is dominated by point-to-point traffic and its transfer facilities are less complete than Charles de Gaulle's, so when changing building, err on the generous side.
Routes and flights
- Routes — around 30-plus airlines flying to about 100 destinations, mainly French domestic, intra-Schengen and Mediterranean holiday routes, with relatively few long-haul points; a handful of intercontinental services are operated by Air France and Caribbean carriers.
- Flights — 34.93 million passengers in 2025 (+5.5% year on year), about 110% of the pre-pandemic level.
- Aircraft — main base is Air France (mainly Orly 1 and 2), followed by easyJet, Vueling, Air Caraïbes and Air Corsica; the fleet is the A320 family, with A330s on the few long-haul routes.
Getting into Paris
- Metro Line 14 — direct to Orly since 2024, about 25 minutes into the city, and currently the fastest and most reliable option.
- Orlyval transit train + RER B — 8 minutes to Antony, where you change to RER B; good for the Left Bank and the university district.
- Orlybus — direct to Denfert-Rochereau, and cheaper than the rail options.
- Taxi — about 14 km, with a flat rate for the city centre direction.
Practical tips
- Paris has two airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY) — Orly handles mainly domestic, intra-Schengen and some low-cost traffic, while long-haul intercontinental flights mostly use CDG, so always check the three-letter code when booking.
- Metro Line 14 is fully automated and driverless, with frequent services and long operating hours; even for a late arrival it is more reliable than the buses.
- The "Orly West / Orly South" of older guides have been folded into the new numbering, so seeing Orly 3 or Orly 4 is nothing to be puzzled by.
