Arriving in Singapore: Changi Airport Step by Step (with airport map and MRT)

Flying into Singapore this autumn? Here is the whole arrival flow, gate to kerb — follow the crowd and you will clear immigration without a wrong turn.

Follow the crowd and the Arrival arrows after landing

Step 1: follow the crowd and the Arrival signs

Head for the Immigration Hall. Once off the plane, just follow the flow of passengers and the Arrival arrows; the route differs by gate, but Arrival always points the right way.

Exits differ, but Arrival is always the right call

Step 2: go downstairs to the Immigration Hall

Follow the signs and take the escalator or lift down — it drops you directly at the customs Immigration Hall.

This is where you arrive downstairs: the Immigration Hall

Step 3: the first gate (passport scan)

Step up to the automated gate and place your passport photo page face down on the scanner. Once it reads, the first gate opens.

Step 4: the second gate (biometrics)

Inside, follow the on-screen prompts: look straight at the camera to register your face, then follow the instructions for your fingerprints. When verification succeeds the gate opens and immigration is complete.

⚠️ Before that: file your arrival card

You cannot clear immigration without one. The electronic SG Arrival Card is linked to your passport once submitted, so you never need to show a separate document at the gates.

There are reminder boards on site, and you can fill it in over the airport WiFi in about five minutes. New to the form? See our step-by-step guide.

You can submit the SG Arrival Card on the spot — about 5 minutes over airport WiFi

If you are only transiting, the map is worth a look — it shows how the terminals sit together.
