Seattle-Tacoma International Airport terminal guide공항 안내
Seattle-Tacoma sits about 23 km from the city centre, handles around 53 million passengers a year and is the gateway to the American north-west. Its layout is four concourses plus two satellite buildings: concourses A, B, C and D ring the main terminal, while the North Satellite (N) and South Satellite (S) stand apart and are linked by an underground train — if your gate letter carries an N or an S, you have a ride ahead of you.
Satellite view

From above, the terminals and runways at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) sit inside the city and road network.

Concourses and satellites
| Code | Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| A / B / C / D | Main terminal concourses | Ring the central terminal and are reached on foot |
| N | North Satellite | A separate building, reached by underground train |
| S | South Satellite | A separate building, reached by underground train |
How to tell where you are going:
- The gate letter is the location — A–D are walkable; N / S need the underground train (about 10 minutes including the wait).
- Alaska Airlines and Delta are the main carriers here, with an exceptionally well-developed domestic network.
Our diagram draws the two satellite buildings as structures set apart from the main terminal precisely to mark out that underground rail link.
Transfers and connections
- Connections are completed within the same building complex; if yours crosses to a satellite (N/S), add the train time to your buffer.
- Trains between the main terminal and the satellites are frequent, and a transfer usually takes 10–15 minutes.
- Seattle is a starting point for Alaska and for the North Pacific routes to Asia, and through-connection signage is clear.
Routes and flights
| Aspect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Routes | Around 37 airlines serve 96 domestic and 36 international non-stop destinations (about 132 in total); international points cover Canada, Mexico, major European cities, East Asia (Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong) and Central Asia. It is the starting point for Alaska and the North Pacific routes to Asia. |
| Flights | A record 52.7 million passengers in 2025; roughly 1,200 aircraft movements a day (about 440,000 a year). |
| Aircraft | The main base is Alaska Airlines (around 43% of the market, with the Boeing 737 family as its all-but-exclusive workhorse), followed by Delta Air Lines (around 20%), which sends widebodies such as the 767 and A330 / A350 on the transpacific and European runs. |
Getting into Seattle
- Link light rail — the station connects the terminal and the car park, about 40 minutes direct to the city centre; the fare is low and traffic cannot affect it, making it the option we would recommend first.
- Airport buses / express coaches — cover the city and the surrounding towns.
- Taxi / ride-hailing — about 23 km, from designated pickup points; Interstate 5 is heavily congested at peak times.
- Car hire — a shuttle runs to the car hire centre, useful for driving to Mount Rainier and the Pacific coast.
Practical tips
- The light rail runs from the airport straight to the city centre and on towards the University of Washington, and is more reliable than the roads late at night and at peak times — a standard choice for locals.
- Seattle is the gathering point for Alaska cruises and for flights into the interior, and passenger numbers concentrate in cruise season (May–September), so arrive 3 hours ahead.
- Parts of the main terminal are under long-term renovation, so routes and shops may be adjusted — watch for the signs on site.
