2026년 10월 17일 업데이트

Abadan's airport introduces itself with a sign: Persian and English side by side for Ayatollah Jami International Airport. Another photo shows passengers wheeling bags towards the hall under a red sign, with patterned paving outside. The airport serves Abadan, Iran, at an elevation of about 3 m, with two runways up to 3,100 m; the 2014 snapshot records three domestic destinations, Shiraz at 430 km, Tehran at 658 km and Mashhad at 1,244 km.

Non-stop routes

3 non-stop destinations, nearest first (OpenFlights route snapshot compiled in 2014 — confirm with the airline or airport):

Mehrabad International Airport (THR)~658 kmAir Bangladesh, Iran Aseman Airlines, Iran Air
Mashhad International Airport (MHD)~1244 kmAir Bangladesh, Iran Air

The carrier column comes from the same snapshot and includes codeshare and interline services; treat it as an indication of how busy the route is and check the airline for who actually flies it.

Nearby airports to compare

If the fares are close, these are the nearest airports of the same class (large airport) — straight-line distance, with their own non-stop counts from the same dataset:

Before you fly

  • With three domestic routes, 90–120 minutes is usually enough; international trips connect via Tehran or another hub.
  • The 2014 snapshot records domestic routes only, and Iranian schedules change quickly; check current airline information.

About the data

Runways, elevation and coordinates come from OurAirports open data. Routes and carriers come from the June 2014 OpenFlights snapshot and include codeshares and interline services; they indicate network shape and scale, not current schedules.

History

In World War II Abadan was a major logistics hub for Lend-Lease aircraft bound for the Soviet Union: from May 1942 a USAAF and Douglas plant here assembled and flight-tested newly arrived aircraft before they flew on to Tehran for handover. The Air Transport Command numbered it Station #3, linking Tehran, RAF Habbaniya and Bahrain.
