With the end of the summer holidays overlapping with the return rush, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is at its busiest. This guide covers the practical details of Terminals 2 and 3 in four parts — domestic departures, domestic arrivals, getting to and from the airport, and parking.
Tianhe has two terminals in service: Terminal 3 (departures on level 4, arrivals on level 2) and Terminal 2 (departures on level 2, arrivals on level 1). Check which terminal your flight uses before you set out; Airport Route 3 shuttles between the two. The terminal plans and parking route diagrams here come from the airport's official website.
1. Domestic departures
Terminal 3
- Arrive at the terminal. Get there 2 hours ahead and confirm your terminal with your airline. Level 4 is the departures floor at Terminal 3.
- Check in and drop your bags. Check-in islands E, F, J and K handle check-in and baggage. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, so allow enough time. Self-service check-in and bag drop are available, but checking in online beforehand is a good idea.
- Security. Have your boarding pass and ID or passport ready for the security officer.
- Wait and board. Follow the flight information screens and signs, and be at your gate 30–40 minutes before departure.
Terminal 2
- Arrive at the terminal. Get there 2 hours ahead and confirm your terminal with your airline. Level 2 is the departures floor at Terminal 2.
- Check in and drop your bags. Check-in islands A and B handle check-in and baggage.

2. Domestic arrivals
Terminal 3
- Arrival. If someone is meeting you, tell them in advance which terminal your flight arrives at. Level 2 is the arrivals floor at Terminal 3.
- Collect your baggage. Find the carousel for your flight on the information screens. To prevent bags being taken by mistake, staff may spot-check the baggage tag against the barcode on your ticket, so keep your baggage receipt handy and cooperate.
- Leaving the airport. For your own safety and security, do not accept services from anyone without official airport ID outside the restricted area, and do not take rides from unlicensed, touting drivers.

Terminal 2
- Arrival. If someone is meeting you, tell them in advance which terminal your flight arrives at. Level 1 is the arrivals floor at Terminal 2.
- Collect your baggage. Find the carousel for your flight on the information screens, and cooperate with any spot-checks in the same way.
- Leaving the airport. Do not accept services from anyone without official airport ID outside the restricted area, and do not take unlicensed rides.

3. Getting to and from the airport
Ground transport at Tianhe is built around the airport buses, Metro Line 2, Airport Route 3 and the rail station. Every link between the two terminals, and between the terminals and the Transport Centre, is signposted.
